What if I can't do it? What if she says that one simple but dreadful word...no. Get it together Matthew! You're a nation! Even, thought you are treated like crap...you can do it! Just do it, already! You know you've been waiting for years to ask her!

I shook my head, clearing my thoughts. This was not going to be so easy like it looked like standing afar for years watching my brother asking out girls on dates. I've never been noticed before...ever. But there was one exception... (First name)(Last name). She was beautiful and still is to this day. I just hoped this whole thing wouldn't spoil our friendship.

She's my best friend...and it was awkward just to think about loving her. It would sound wrong once it comes out of my mouth when I ask her if she loves me... She would always respond with " Yeah, as best friends", that would always hurt me...but now I've got to do it.

The bell rang, and I could hear the sound of chairs scraping against the floor. The teacher was handing out Social Studies homework as students poured out the door. I stuffed my things into my book bag and picked up my bear Kumajiro and held him close to my chest.

" Who are you?" Kumajiro asked. I sighed for the millionth time today.

" Canada" I responded lightly. I swung the book bag over my shoulder and exited the classroom getting a packet of questions from the teacher. Now, I had to find her.

I looked down each of the hallways before going to my locker to put my book bag in the blue compartment. As I walked to my locker, I spotted my brother flirting with Natasha. She looked like she was about to kill him, if he said another word. I snickered silently and continued on to my locker.

I made it to the locker numbered 908, I unlocked it and put the red bag and slammed the door shut. I sighed again, and looked up. I jumped at what I saw.

" Hey locker neighbor! And best friend in the world!" (Name) said. I was shocked, she scared me pretty badly. I nodded and greeted her with a shaky hand. Do it! Ask her!

" H-hey (Name)! I-I-I wanted to find you....I need to talk to you..." I stuttered.

" Yes? What is it Mattie?!" She asked. She focused all of her attention on me.

" Umm...I...umm...wanted...to ask...you...on a-"

" I'm hungry! Feed me!" Kumajiro said cutting off my sentence. I could feel his soft paws pawing at my face. I exhaled loudly.

" Kumajiro! Not now!!!! So, (Name)...I wanted to ask...if you wanted to...umm...uhh" I responded, but my brain was slowing down.

" Yes? What do you want?" (Name) asked.

" If you...wanted...to...go...on...a.........^date...with me..." I choked out.
